Tyler Glasnow’s first encounter with girlfriend highlighted during game

Tyler Glasnow found love with girlfriend Meghan Murphy in a familiar place.

Before joining the Dodgers late last year, the former Rays ace had a unique meet-up with Murphy at the ball park that involved a Tampa Bay photographer and a baseball, as chronicled Friday by Dodgers announcer Joe Davis during Los Angeles’ 2-1 loss to the Padres.

“At the ball park, when he was pitching for the Rays, said he noticed her off in the distance and said, ‘She looks cute,’ So he had the team photographer zoom in on her,” Davis began.

Glasnow, 30, then grabbed a baseball and jotted down his phone number before tossing it up to Murphy with the message, “Text me.”

Murphy returned the following day with a ball that featured her digits and the message: “No, you text me.”

“So he did and the rest is history,” the announcer continued.

Glasnow, who is in his first season with the Dodgers, previously detailed the sweet series of events to the Los Angeles Times in March.

“I saw a girl who was kind of cute, so I had our team photographer zoom in on her — this just sounds very weird — but she was wholesome, with a girl-next-door look,” Glasnow said of the 2021 encounter.

“So I wrote my phone number on a ball, threw it to her and told her to text me. She came to the next game, threw me a ball with her number and told me to text her.”

Although Glasnow “didn’t think anything would come of it,” that changed upon meeting her.

“I met her and she was awesome. She has a really good personality, loves to travel and is really fun, so it’s super easy. That was the first time I’ve ever thrown a ball to someone [with my phone number on it], too. And I still don’t think she believes me,” he said.

Glasnow began his MLB career with the Pirates and made his major league debut in 2016.

He was traded to the Rays in 2018 and spent five-and-a-half seasons in Tampa Bay.

Glasnow was traded to the Dodgers in December, the same month the team signed two-way megastar Shohei Ohtani to a monster 10-year, $700 million contract in free agency.

The righty later signed a five-year contract extension with the Dodgers worth $136.5 million.

The Dodgers are currently first in the NL West at 27-15.

Glasnow boasts a 2.53 ERA this season.
