Chris Stapleton Performs ‘Loving You on My Mind’ With Jennifer Hudson

Chris Stapleton took the stage during his recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show for a special performance of “Loving You on My Mind.” The song, which appears on the musician’s latest studio album Higher, was elevated to the next level as Stapleton was joined by Hudson herself and the country duo the War and Treaty.

Stapleton kicked off the song with the War and Treaty, singing alongside his band. About halfway through, following one of the singer’s soulful guitar solos, Hudson emerged from side-stage to bring the performance home. “You think I can make it on the tour?” the host asked once they wrapped. “Can I sing on the tour?”

Stapleton is currently on the 2024 All-American Road Show tour with special guests, the War and Treaty, on select dates. The run, which extends through December, will also feature supporting appearances from Marcus King, Nikki Lane, Charley Crockett, Allen Stone, Lainey Wilson, Elle King, Turnpike Troubadours, Grace Potter, and more.

Hudson and Stapleton last teamed up at the 55th Annual CMA Awards in 2021. The pair first performed Aretha Franklin’s arrangement of Willie Nelson’s “Night Life” and swiftly followed it up with Stapleton’s take on “You Are My Sunshine,” which he recorded with his wife Morgane for Dave Cobb’s multi-artist project, Southern Family.

Later this week, Stapleton will perform at the 59th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards at Ford Center at the Star in Frisco, Texas. The May 16 event will also feature appearances from Post Malone, Kelsea Ballerini with Noah Kahan, Blake Shelton with Gwen Stefani, Miranda Lambert, Thomas Rhett, Lainey Wilson, and more. Stapleton is up for five awards at the show, including Entertainer of the Year.
