Chiefs’ BJ Thompson ‘awake and responsive’ after medical scare

BJ Thompson appears to be making progress.

The Kansas City Chiefs defensive end “is awake and responsive,” his agent, Chris Turnage, told NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero on Friday, one day after he suffered a seizure during a team meeting and went into cardiac arrest.

The Chiefs’ medical team acted swiftly during the terrifying episode, with Turnage telling NFL Network Thursday night that his client “is still unconscious at this point, but he’s stable and vitals are good. His family asks for your continued prayers.”

The Chiefs canceled team activities Thursday in the wake of Thompson’s medical scare.

A fifth-round pick out of Stephen F. Austin State University in 2023, Thompson appeared in one game last season and recorded two tackles.

He became a Super Bowl champion following Kansas City’s win over the 49ers in February.
