Green Day Rushes Off Stage After A Security Threat At A Concert In Detriot
September 5th, 2024 – Green Day stops concert in Detroit because of an alleged security issue.
Green Day Show Pause
Punk band Green Day was suddenly rushed off stage last night as they performed in Detroit. Frontman Billie Joel Armstrong and the rest of the band were in mid-performance of their hit “Longview.”. However, a member of security ran onto the stage and quickly pulled the band backstage, leaving the band and audience goers confused. Audience members were left in the dark for a few minutes. However, a message was eventually broadcast on the stage stating, “Show pause. Please standby for details.”.
The Detroit Police Department confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that the show’s delay was due to a drone. A device was seen flying above Comerica Park, causing security to pull the band off stage for their safety. The person flying the drone was apprehended outside of the stadium, and the case is pending further investigation. The group returned to the stage about 10 minutes after they evacuated, picking up where they left off in their song “Longview.”.
Green Day addressed the delay on X, formerly known as Twitter, that night. “Detroit! Sorry for the delay in the show tonight. Stadium security had us clear the stage while they dealt with a potential safety issue,” the band said in the post, which appears to have since been deleted. “DPD quickly resolved the situation, and we could continue. Thanks for understanding.”.
