After the 13-year-old Aubreigh Wyatt from Ocean Springs, Mississippi committed suicide on September 4, 2023, she has gone viral.

Following Aubreigh Wyatt’s passing, Heather Wyatt, her mother, started talking publicly about her loss and sharing her daughter’s narrative on social media, particularly TikTok claiming her daughter had committed suicide after being bullied by four other girls. Along with Aubreigh’s name and images, the hashtag #LLAW also became popular.

Heather previously said, that her daughter Aubreigh Wyatt died because of ongoing cyberbullying. She revealed that four girls tormented Aubreigh who was in the eighth grade when she passed away. Heather has also demanded that those in authority be held responsible.

When she passed the girls made a doll on a noose and mocked her death.

The names of the four girls that Heather has claimed to have bullied her daughter became well known but Heather never disclosed their identities to the public. Online users have posted purported texts that detailed the bullying.

The parents of the four teenagers responded by suing Heather on grounds of slander and defamation, according to The Washington Post. A judge had ordered Heather to delete all of her social media accounts after the July 2 lawsuit was filed. The decision infuriated a lot of social media users, who said Heather’s right to free speech had been infringed.

Several well-known TikTokers have expressed their support for Heather in remarks they have posted.

The complaint against Heather reads, in part, “As a direct and proximate cause of the false, defamatory, and slanderous social media posts of the defendant, Heather Wyatt, the plaintiffs’ minor children have been receiving insulting and revolting messages from around the world attacking them, calling them vulgar names, sexualizing them. These young ladies WERE IN THE 8TH GRADE!!”

But on July 16, the parents dismissed the lawsuit. According to the petition, the case was “dismissed without prejudice,” which implies the parents may reopen it at a later time if they so want.

Wyatt had said long ago that the family found no note from Aubreigh after her death but  Heather Wyatt then shot a video of herself on her phone as she packed Aubreigh’s room for a family move and in the video, Wyatt screamed and burst into tears as she picked up sealed envelopes that Aubreigh had addressed to family members.

The envelopes had a drawn heart and most signed “Aubs” and Aubreigh had left notes for Heather, Taylor, Ryker, Heather’s brother Jeff Wyatt, who was like a father to Aubreigh, and one last letter addressed to everyone. Alleged Snapchat messages of Aubreigh and the girls who bullied here have also gone viral on Reddit since.

It’s unknown if Heather’s social media ban will be lifted by the case’s judge. Heather’s social media accounts, which received millions of views and shares globally, are still offline.
