Normani Sees a Fifth Harmony Reunion as a ‘Possibility in the Future’

Normani isn’t thinking about a Fifth Harmony reunion right now — she’s too deep in her Dopamine era. The pop-R&B star stopped by Billboard and addressed the rumors that swirled months ago that a 5H comeback might be in the works. (It’s not happening anytime soon.)

Billboard‘s Tetris Kelly pointed to interviews Ally Brooke did while promoting single “Gone to Bed” and her holiday EP where she alluded that a reunion might be “closer than we think.” Normani seemed to know nothing about that.

“I don’t know. Not to my knowledge,” Normani said. “But I definitely see that being a possibility in the future. That would be a special moment for sure.”

In the interview, Normani said it was “dope” to hear that all of the Fifth Harmony members had commented on her post announcing her debut album. “It’s beautiful to see everybody blossom, flourish, and thrive in our solo endeavors because that was the point,” she said. (The group disbanded in 2018.)

Normani sat down for an interview with Rolling Stone last week and said being in the group had taken a “toll on my confidence,” but that she sometimes goes “down memory lane” to listen to the group’s music. She even shared that the group’s Lauren Jauregui had “just texted me” that day.

“There’s so much that I don’t even remember because I suppressed it,” she told Rolling Stone. “That’s just my way of protecting myself from having to deal with everything. But what I do remember is it wasn’t all bad. Like yeah, we struggled, but it was also really beautiful in what we accomplished together.”

Normani addressing the 5H reunion rumors comes just days after Ally Brooke had to shut down a viral tweet that claimed she was quitting music altogether. “In case there is any confusion, don’t believe everything you see online. I’m not retiring,” she wrote on Instagram under a photo of herself in the studio.

Back in March, Page Six published a story that the group was “in talks” of working together again, but Rolling Stone quickly shut down the rumors, citing multiple sources close to the group’s original members.

All of the group’s members have been dropping solo tracks. Normani’s Dopamine arrives Friday, Brooke released her Christmas EP in December, Jauregui released single “Burning” in March, Camila Cabello’s album C, XOXO drops June 28, and Dinah Jane dropped “Ocean Song” last month.
