Netflix roast jokes affected my kids

Tom Brady regrets how his infamous roast earlier this month played out.

Brady appeared on “The Pivot” podcast and was asked about what his takeaways from the roast, which aired on Netflix last Sunday, were.

“I loved when the jokes were about me. I thought they were so fun. I didn’t like the way that it affected my kids,” Brady said.

“The hardest part about the bittersweet aspect, when you do something you think is one way, and you’re like, ‘I wouldn’t do that again because of the way that it affected the people I care about most in the world.’

“It makes you a better parent, going through it. Because sometimes you’re naive. You don’t know … When I signed up for that, I loved that people were making fun of me.”

He said that comedy helped him get through the saga in which he was accused by the NFL of deflating footballs for competitive purposes.

“When I was going through all the Deflategate stuff, in 2015-16, I watched three things: Premier League soccer, golf and comedy shows — because every time I watched ‘SportsCenter’ I was like, ‘Are you f–king kidding me?’” Brady said.

He reiterated that he just wanted the evening to be about laughs and resolved to see the bigger picture as a parent going forward.

Brady’s ex-wife, Gisele Bündchen, was said to be “deeply disappointed” in jokes about her during the roast.

Brady and Bündchen share two children, and Brady also has a son from a previous relationship with actress Bridget Moynahan.

Kevin Hart was among the comics who made a joke about the divorce.

“When you got a chance to go 8-9 and all it will cost you is your wife and your kids, you gotta do what the f–k you gotta do.’

“How did you not see this coming?” Hart continued. “Eight f–king karate classes a day and she’s still a white belt!”

Nikki Glaser also made a joke about the divorce.

“You have seven rings. Well, eight now that Gisele gave hers back,” she joked.

Glaser revealed after the roast that jokes about Brady’s children were off-limits.
