Kim Kardashian ‘Loved’ Ryan Murphy’s ‘The People v. O. J. Simpson’

Kardashian praised the attention to detail, from the house the family lived in at the time to a bracelet worn by her late father, Robert

Kim Kardashian revealed that she was blown away by the accuracy of the portrayal of her father, Robert Kardashian, in Ryan Murphy’s The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story

“I loved it,” Kardashian said of the celebrated mini-series in a new conversation with Chloë Sevigny for Variety. “Some people were over and they hadn’t seen it — I watched it years and years ago — and I wanted to see if my recollection was right on the portrayal of my dad. I thought it was just done so well.”

Robert Kardashian (who died in 2003) was part of Simpson’s defense team, and in the series he was played by David Schwimmer, who earned an Emmy nomination for his performance. Kardashian was so impressed with the attention to detail that went into making the characters and show as realistic as possible that she even asked Murphy who his “sources” were.

“Because that was my dad’s exact bracelet,” Kardashian said. “That was our home! They actually rented the home that we grew up in at that period of time.”

Kardashian noted that the show did get a few things wrong, but they were “minimal.” Of the series as a whole, she said, “It was just fascinating to watch and see it from a different perspective, especially now, since I’m in law school. Seeing it from a legal point of view is just fascinating.”

Later in the chat, Kardashian revealed her connection to another infamous Nineties L.A. true crime saga, which Murphy is adapting for season two of Monster with Sevigny in a starring role: The story of the Menéndez brothers, Erik and Lyle, who were convicted of killing their parents, José and Kitty (Sevigny will play Kitty opposite Javier Bardem as José).

“I grew up right down the street from the house that all happened in, and everyone went to the same schools,” Kardashian revealed. “I remember hearing about that case. But my dad drove me by the house and told me the story. And he had been in the house.”
