At the Venice Film Festival, Joaquin Phoenix took a moment to commend his co-star, Lady Gaga, on her dedication to transform for her role in “Joker: Folie à Deux.”
September 5, 2024- Joaquin Phoenix praised Lady Gaga for her drastic change in weight for her role in the upcoming film, “Joker: Folie à Deux,” which just premiered at the 2024 Venice Film Festival.

While on a press panel for the upcoming film by Todd Phillips, the press had an opportunity to ask Phoenix about his physical transformation for the film.
“Stefani (Lady Gaga) also lost a lot of weight,” Phoenix said.
“I did, I did,’ Gaga replied.
“I remember when I met you and then we did some rehearsals. And then you went away for like a month, and then you came back, and you lost a lot of weight. It was really impressive and seemed very difficult,” Phoenix continued.
“Thank you,” Gaga said as she struggled with the microphone.
Phoenix jokingly said to Gaga, “She’s not familiar with microphones,” in which Gaga giggled.

“I think if I do, I would just be sharing my opinion from perspective. The other creatives aren’t here to say their piece and it just doesn’t feel like that would be right,” Phoenix said.
“Not sure how that would be helpful. So, I just don’t think I will. Thank you,” Phoenix continued.
