James McAvoy’s Speak No Evil Character Was Based On Andrew Tate

September 2nd, 2024 – James McAvoy’s Speak No Evil character was based on Andrew Tate.

 Speak No Evil

James McAvoy revealed that he took inspiration from controversial influencer Andrew Tate for his role in Speak No Evil. McAvoy says he thought about his character as Tate from the country in a sense, with the character’s attitude focusing on teaching men to be men again. He had psychopathic tendencies, an unassuming face, and toxic tendencies, similar to how Tate behaves. McAvoy added that, even though he put on muscle for the part, he still played the character softer than with a super masculine personality. He said he didn’t want to hit the audience over the head with his personality and make his character totally unlikable.

Andrew Tate is known for his views on women. He has publicly labeled himself a misogynist and dubbed himself the “king of toxic masculinity.” He’s also been accused of multiple alleged sexual offenses along with his brother Tristan Tate. People are not fond of  Tate as he has influenced others to think like him. However, it is understandable how James McAvoy used Andrew’s likeness for his character.

“Speak No Evil” follows an American family that meets a British family on vacation and agrees to visit them at their home. The family’s stay eventually leads to a nightmarish ordeal perpetrated by McAvoy. The movie is set to release on September 13th in theaters.
