September 5th, 2024 – Alex Morgan’s retirement and pregnancy news.

Alex Morgan Retirement

Soccer Star Alex Morgan has a lot of big news to share as she announces her retirement and second pregnancy. In a four-minute video, the 35-year-old player explains her reasons for retiring from the United States Women’s National Team and when her last game with the San Diego Wave FC will be. Alex revealed her ultimate reason for retiring had a bit to do with her pregnancy with her second baby.

Like Alex, many athletes tend to retire in their early to mid-30s. Her husband, Servando Carrasco, a former professional soccer player with the LA Galaxy, retired back in 2020 at the age of 32. While many soccer fans are already posting about their sadness about Morgan’s retirement, she had a very successful professional career. Morgan famously scored the match-winning goal against Canada in the 2012 London Olympics to win an Olympic gold medal. She also lead the women’s national team to two FIFA World Cups in 2015 and 2019. As for records, she has scored 123 goals in 224 caps, putting her fifth in USWNT history. Also, Time Magazine named her among the 100 Most Influential People in 2022 and 2019.

It’s unclear how far along Alex Morgan is with her second pregnancy, but it would seem far enough along that she has decided to retire for the well-being of the baby. She and Servando can now focus more on their family. Morgan revealed that her last game with the San Diego Wave FC will be on Sunday, September 8, when they host a game against the North Carolina Courage.
