Tom Holland Confirms He’s Read ‘Spider-Man 4’ Script

“Zendaya and I sat down and read it together,” Holland said of the film’s script. “We at times were bouncing around the living room”

Tom Holland gave a light teaser about Spider-Man 4 this week, revealing that he and his co-star and girlfriend Zendaya reviewed a draft of the film’s script.

“We have a creative and a pitch and a draft which is excellent,” Holland told the Rich Roll podcast on Thursday. “It needs work but the writers are doing a great job, and I read it three weeks ago. It really lit a fire in me.”

Holland was mum on specific details about the project, but emphasized they are still a ways to go from full-on production. “Zendaya and I sat down and read it together, and we at times were bouncing around the living room like, ‘This is a real movie worthy of the fans’ respect,’” he added. “But there’s a few things we need to figure out before we can get that really going, but it’s exciting, and I’m really excited about it.”

The next installment of the Spider-Man franchise remains one of the most anticipated films in the MCU. Still as Holland mentioned, even those films remain “a small cog in a large machine, and that machine has to keep running,” which he said is a challenge.

The upcoming Spider-Man movie will follow No Way Home, which ran with the MCU’s ongoing multiverse storyline to bring back Andrew Garfield and Toby Maguire’s Spider-Man versions as well as memorable villains like Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin and Alfred Molina’s Dr. Octopus. Whatever the next movie is, it’ll likely build on Holland’s Peter Parker’s life as Dr. Strange cast a spell that made all of Parker’s loved ones forget who he is.
